Frequent questions.
The answers that most often come up in a first meeting. Did not find your question? Drop us a line — we reply within 24 hours.
First meeting & collaboration
-
Is the first meeting free of charge?
Yes. A first, non-binding conversation — by phone, on site or online — is always free. We listen, sort out the situation and show where we can concretely help. Only once you decide to work with us will you receive a written proposal.
-
How quickly will I get a reply?
We confirm your enquiry within 24 hours — usually the same day. For concrete topics we come back with an initial assessment within two working days.
-
Can I switch from my current fiduciary firm?
Of course — and calmly. We coordinate the handover, collect the necessary documents from your previous provider and ensure a seamless transition of ongoing accounting, deadlines and obligations.
-
Who will be my main point of contact?
You are assigned a named main contact with a backup — no call centre, no hotline carousel. Direct line, direct email, direct answer.
Engagement & accounting
-
Which documents do you need to get started?
For the handover we typically need: the most recent annual financial statements, the current chart of accounts, open debtor and creditor lists, and access to your existing accounting software. A detailed checklist is sent to you before the first meeting.
-
Which accounting software do you use?
We work primarily with Abacus — as an official Abacus partner via our sister company Aeberli Digital. We can also continue with existing systems (Bexio, SAP, others) or accompany a structured migration.
-
How are receipts handed over?
Whichever way suits you best: the classic way via post or folder pick-up, digitally via AbaScan / AbaClik / email, or integrated into your existing receipt-processing workflow. We set up the process so it fits your day-to-day — not the other way around.
-
Do you also offer interim statements and reporting only?
Yes. Monthly or quarterly reporting, interim statements, budgeting and financial planning — as a complement to your internal accounting or as a full outsourcing of the CFO function.
Audit & tax
-
Are you RAB-licensed?
Yes. Aeberli is an audit firm licensed by the Federal Audit Oversight Authority (RAB) and a member of EXPERTsuisse, TREUHAND|SUISSE and AGN International. We are therefore licensed for ordinary audits — including for public companies and groups.
-
What is the difference between a limited and an ordinary audit?
The limited statutory examination applies to SMEs below certain thresholds (balance sheet total, revenue, full-time positions) and reviews the annual financial statements with a reduced scope. The ordinary audit is required for larger companies and public entities, with a significantly wider scope including an assessment of the internal control system (ICS).
-
Do you offer US tax for expats?
Yes. We look after US persons in Switzerland with US tax returns, FBAR/FATCA filings and Streamlined Procedures — coordinated with the Swiss tax return and together with our US partner network. More about US Tax
Digital & fees
-
What does Aeberli Digital do?
Aeberli Digital is our sister company for digital transformation — Abacus implementations, Microsoft 365 Copilot workshops and IT advisory. We use tools ourselves before we recommend them. Aeberli Treuhand is our test lab — you benefit from what we learn.
-
How are your services billed?
For defined engagements (e.g. ongoing accounting, tax return, audit) we work with an annual fixed fee. For advisory by effort our hourly rate applies — transparent, with monthly invoicing and detailed activity records. You receive the conditions in the written proposal before the engagement starts.
-
Are you also a good fit for smaller SMEs?
Yes, expressly. Our client base ranges from single-person firms and start-ups to internationally active groups. For smaller SMEs, access to partner know-how is as direct as it is for the larger engagements — that is part of how we see ourselves.
